It was a tough night in a wet and windy Cardiff Arms Park for the men from the West.
Connacht came under huge pressure from the first kickoff and struggled to clear their lines, conceding 6 turnovers and having only 35% territory in the first quarter.
This was mainly down to playing into a strong wind. the strength of the wind is evident when we look at the first 20 minutes in the second half when Connacht had 68% territory.
Even though Connacht were in the right areas of the pitch in the second half, it was their inability to hold on to the ball cost them in the end as they conceded 19 turnovers in the match in total compared to 13 by Cardiff.
After the match Andy Friend mentioned that players were been given a chance to show what they could do and one player that took that chance was Cillian Gallagher.
He was joint top tackler along with Fainga’a and Butler on 13 tackles also he was a thorn in the side of the Cardiff line-out causing 2 turnovers
